Trip to Coos Bay
Here are a few photos from our trip to Coos Bay this weekend....
This weekend was Breeders' Cup weekend and so we headed down to the coast for a weekend with the family. We had a great time even though most of our horses lost this year :( Nonetheless it was a blast and we all three made it back safe and sound.
I got to attend my first Marshfield High School football game for the incredibly low admission price of only $5 per person! :) Marshfield wailed on whoever they were playing (I never really have paid to much attention to that sort of thing) so I guess that's good.
Jo and I got the chance to go out on the Jetty one evening walk (or climb) along the rocks out into the ocean. It was really a great time and the weather was actually pretty reasonable while we were there!! Very little rain until the day we left (I guess that would be today).
Jo and I both enjoyed a great sermon yesterday at Hauser Community Church about seeking to be servants rather than always looking to move "up and to the right." I'm afraid it's an all too easy trap to fall into for most of us (myself included). They also shared a bit about Operation Christmas Child which by the way seems to be a great program! Jo and I are probably going to look at helping out with that this year in McMinnville - I'm not sure if we do that or not at Calvary, but if we don't we should! It's a super easy way to have what could be an eternal impact on kids' lives half-way around the world! From what I understand this program enables us to give these kids tracts and bring them the gospel where without the gifts we would not have that opportunity. Anyway, it sounds like a great thing to me.
Now we're back and it's back to work for me tomorrow. The only problem with taking a long weekend is how hard it is to get yourself out of bed when it comes time to go back to work! I'm looking forward to that in the morning!
Hope you all enjoy the pictures. We'll try and upload some better ones soon (from Jo's camera - these were taken on my Motorola Phone).
We wish God's blessings on all of you our family and friends.
Mark & Joellen.
